Lesson #1

Creating a Twitter username and joining our WordPress blog:

– You need an email address that you can use on this course. Everyone will see your address (also teachers and students in the schools that we work with) and you have to remember your password so WRITE IT DOWN in your phone for example. When you have an email address that you can use for this course, send an email message from that address to your teacher.

– Go to http://twitter.com and get yourself a Twitter account that you can use on this course. Everyone will see your username (also teacher and students in the schools that we work with) and all your tweets, so remember to behave well on Twitter! Do not give your last name, your address or your birthday. When you have logged in to Twitter, find your teacher and follow her/him.

– Find English-speaking newspapers, tv-stations, magazines, artists, musicians, etc interesting people on Twitter and click to follow them. Try to find 20 profiles to follow. If you find more, that’s fine.

– Go to your teacher’s Twitter profile and see the list of people who (s)he follows. You will find all the other people on this course there. Click to follow them all.

– Click ‘home’ on Twitter when you are logged in. You will see the stream of tweets from people you follow. Retweet (click ‘retweet’) the most interesting ones. Everyone who follows you (and that is everyone on this course) will get your tweets in their page.

– Take some time to follow your Twitter stream and retweet interesting things. Maybe you’ll even find more people to follow.

– Go to http://wordpress.com and create a WordPress username. Everyone on this course and in the schools that we work with abroad will see your username, so choose one that is presentable. You have to remember your password, so write it down into phone for example! After creating a username you will have to check your email to verify it. When you fill in your details in WordPress, do not give your last name, your address or your birthday. Otherwise you can tell things about yourself in your profile page, what your hobbies are and what are your likes/dislikes etc. If you have a WordPress username already you can use that.

– Check your email. Your teacher has invited you to write in our blog. Accept the invitation!

– Write a post in our blog https://9englishclub.wordpress.com where you tell us what you learned on Twitter today. Tell us your Twitter username and report what you have done today. Did you read something interesting? Did you see interesting photos? Did you find interesting people?
